Judge Katherine Terpstra

Judge Katherine Terpstra was appointed to serve as a Clermont County Municipal Court judge by Governor Mike DeWine in 2025, bringing with her years of courtroom experience.

Judge Terpstra graduated with honors from Ohio State University in 2010 with undergraduate degrees in psychology and Spanish. While at Ohio State, she was also a student-athlete, competing with their nationally ranked women’s rowing team. Judge Terpstra then attended University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude with her juris doctorate in 2013. She was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio later that same year.

Prior to even becoming a licensed attorney, Judge Terpstra became involved in the Clermont County court system. During her last semester of law school, she worked as an intern for the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office before ultimately being hired as a full-time assistant prosecuting attorney after graduation. Judge Terpstra worked as an assistant prosecutor in Clermont County for over 11 years before taking the bench.

During her time at the prosecutor’s office, Judge Terpstra worked her way up from an intern to a Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the felony division. As a Senior Assistant, Judge Terpstra supervised other attorneys within the office and was trusted to handle some of the most serious and complex cases the office faced. She has successfully prosecuted rape cases, murder cases, and cases involving intricate criminal enterprises. Judge Terpstra has experience in all aspects of criminal law, including juvenile, traffic, misdemeanor, felony, and appellate work. She has extensive experience in trial work and motion practice, including cases presenting unique or novel legal issues.

Judge Terpstra has been married since 2012 and has three children with her husband. She is involved in a variety of their school and extra-curricular activities.
